This Memorial Weekend, Glendora Country Club was the setting for a truly memorable event: the retirement celebration of Mariela and Robert, two pillars of the law enforcement community. With a combined 50 years of dedicated service—23 years for Mariela and an impressive 32 years for Robert—their retirement marks the end of an era and the beginning of a well-deserved new chapter.
The event was a delightful brunch, complete with bottomless mimosas that kept the mood as sunny as the Southern California weather. The buffet spread was a feast for the senses, with an array of delicious dishes that perfectly complemented the celebratory atmosphere. Despite the heat, which seemed to try its best to temper our spirits, the warmth of the occasion and the company of friends and family made the day unforgettable.
A special highlight of the day was a performance by the first all-women Mariachi group, who themselves were celebrating 30 years of bringing their unique and vibrant music to audiences. Their lively and heartfelt performance added an extra layer of joy and festivity to the event, creating an atmosphere of celebration and cultural richness that perfectly matched the occasion.
I first had the pleasure of meeting Mariela and Robert during their private 10-year vow renewal at Ponte Winery. That intimate setting allowed me to see firsthand the kind of people they are: deeply loving, genuinely accommodating, and unwavering in their commitment to each other and their community. Their dedication was evident in every aspect of their careers, and their retirement is a testament to their years of putting their lives on the line for the safety and well-being of others.
As they step into retirement, Mariela is not stepping away from her passion for law. Instead, she’s setting her sights on a new horizon—pursuing a career as a bad ass attorney. Her next chapter promises to be as impactful as her distinguished law enforcement career. Robert, meanwhile, is looking forward to enjoying more time with family, new hobbies, and the freedom that retirement brings.
Here’s to a future filled with joy and continued success for these two incredible individuals. Thank you, Mariela and Robert, for your 50 years of combined service and for making this celebration as memorable as it was. Cheers to Mariela’s exciting new journey and to Robert’s well-earned relaxation. The best is yet to come!
